The Motorola Droid X, the latest Verizon Wireless Android-based smartphone, was released July 15th, 2010 after much anticipation, fueled by Verizon's advertising campaign which was launched on YouTube nearly a month earlier. The Droid X uses MicroSD storage, making expansion not only very affordable but also readily available. Droid X's 4.3" FWVGA LCD crystal clear display is ideal for viewing text, photos or video. Easy OneTouch access to Droid X's features and functions is a snap with the Six Panel Car Dock Screen. The 400K pixel widescreen makes viewing movies or listening to music a whole new experience. Another plus; Droid X offers larger program launcher and application icons that make them easier to locate. Another helpful Droid feature is the Battery Utility, which allows the user to pinpoint which application is consuming power needlessly or excessively, making user optimization a simple task.
Droid X's virtual onscreen keyboard features Swype, the latest and easiest way to enter text. Swype is amazingly intuitive software that is changing the way smartphone users "type." Swype's revolutionary text-input technology allows users to drag their fingers from letter to letter to form words rather than the traditional "tapping." The "smart" feature virtually eliminates typos with it's intuitive "spell-correct" capability, making even the worst of spellers error-free.
Connectivity with other computers is also extraordinarily simple; plug the Droid X in, and it shows up as a USB drive. The Droid's unified e-mail inbox makes adding accounts from "outside" e-mail services a snap, and adding accounts from social networks is just as simple. With the Droid X's 8MP camera, the ability to take pictures or video has never been simpler, and Droid X's lightning-fast processor makes posting your content almost ridiculously quick and easy.
GPS, text-to-speech and live traffic/weather come bundled with the Droid X, and with Google's Android Market, thousands of applications and associated widgets are readily available, making the Droid X it's own "hot-spot." The Droid X's Power Widget allows the user to turn GPS, Wi-Fi, etc. on and off with a simple tap, saving battery power but still remaining easily accessible with another simple tap. Verizon's close association with Skype is also
a Droid X bonus, allowing users to "Skype-to-Skype" effortlessly, enabling virtual video conferencing when "face-to-face" is required.
Compared to it's peers, the Droid X holds numerous advantages, which you can be certain the competitors are
scrambling to integrate into their product. And after all, isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?
