The iPhone 4 is not the type of phone typically categorized as "durable". Sure its glass was reinvented to a one part system, permanently attaching the LCD and glass as one part, verses the iPhone 3G/S which has a two part system, in which if the glass or LCD break you need only have to replace one, the iPhone 4 however if one of the two parts stops working both must be replaced at a much higher cost. The new glass mimics the same type of glass used for helicopter windshields, and the device itself was given a more "square" look for better handling.
Apple also added a special type of insurance that can only be purchased through iTunes. The amount of cost a person would pay per month, and on top of that an equal value purchase price as a deductible, the insurance almost doesn't even hold value of what kind of protection you could get from an OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 4. Iphone 3G Cases
The best Iphone 3G cases are the ones that are durable enough to help protect your precious Apple Iphone from a cataclysmic accidental drop. The sturdier the better because I know from experience, that even though the Iphone holds up extremely well against normal wear and tear, it is not however impervious from those drops that will make you freeze in terror.
