Any veteran Blackberry user rarely upgrades. It is not because Blackberries are terrible smartphones; it’s simply because any new Blackberry has only been a simple upgrade over its previous models. It is not unheard of that a Blackberry user upgrades only after the release of a new model two generations up from his or her current unit.

Blame it on RIM for being so slow on the upgrade cycle. The brilliant specifications and innovative navigations changed RIM’s most radical update to the Blackberry line of smartphones. But even though the 8100 was one of the best RIM has ever produced, a lot of loyal Blackberry users were turned off by its unorthodox SureType input method. Enter the Nextel’s Blackberry Curve 8350i, a smartphone that has the entire feature every user need with larger screen and the traditional Blackberry QWERTY thumb aboard.

It’s large and hefty, die-hard handset users won’t take it any other way; Nextel’s Blackberry Curve 8350i looks like what you’d expect from a smartphone from RIM. This time, however, it’s equipped with a gorgeous 2.5-inch display with 340x320 pixel resolution. The Blackberry Curve 8350i sports a full QWERTY keyboard; of course, that is not saying much when compared with other smartphones. It is much easier to navigate the menu with is multi-directional trackball which is way far better than scrolling up and down with a jog dial.

The unit has a built in GPS, Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR and WiFI ready network that will help user check personal email, streaming videos and music or even making some calls. A noteworthy feature of Blackberry Curve 8350i its high resolution, a 480x360 pixel display will provide users crisp and brilliant images; text and even map information is easier to read even if you are on the go. Handset owners will also be surprised with the vivid color it provides in playing games or watching a video.  Whether you get this new or refurbished nextel Blackberry 8350i smartphone, I know that you will be pleased by this version of the Curve.

Camera has a 3.2 megapixels that gives sharp and print-quality pictures. No need to become an expert photographer to capture quality images; the auto focus, auto flash and image stabilization feature of Blackberry Curve 8350i makes you work like a pro. You can even send pictures with sound and action using the video camera through email or picture message. Play your songs and streaming videos in its built-in media player which will let you take along the entire entertainment on-the-go. The handset supports 3GPP RTSP in mobile streaming via the WAP browser. It is the first to have 8300 series device to be compatible with the newer operating system of RIM 4.6 user interface. Many users liked the monochrome icons and the installed software like DataViz’s Documents to Go that allows handset owners to make small edits and create Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents on the go.

All in all, the Blackberry Curve 8350i is the absolute best and user-friendly smartphone available in the market. It has enough new bells and whistles that any veteran Blackberry user would want to upgrade to, although do take note that software-wise, there is not much to upgrade from the older models. The upgrades to the Blackberry Curve 8350i are mostly hardware and aesthetic. As with all devices such as this, non-email users need not apply.

Blackberry Curve Review

Today I will be briefly reviewing the Blackberry Curve. This is a high end phone release by Research in Motion (RIM)for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Alltel, and Verizon. This phones closet competitor is probably only the Apple Iphone. Blackberry is a huge hit among corporate executives and overall smart phone lovers alike.

The GSM version of the Blackberry Curve has gps for navigational applications. It has a stunning 2.0 megapixel camera, and bluetooth capability. Its push email system is second to none in terms of setting up and overall experience. I am currently using a Treo 700p for Alltel, and I must say that even the mighty Treo doesn't hold a candle to RIM's emailing system. The blackberry curve is also a music player so if you are riding on a gas scooter, you can listen to your tunes if you have some ear phones.

The one thing I like about this cell phone over the iphone, is the QWERTY keyboard. I have meaty fingers and typing on the iphone's touchscreen is a chore for me. My wife loves it however, but I digress.

Its funny because as picky as we are about our cell phones, it was hard for me to find one single con. Then only con that I saw was that it didn't capture video. Other than that, the reviews I saw for it has people raving mad. In a good way of course.

Will Blackberry crank out more phones like this to rival the soon to be release second generation iphone? That remains to be seen. However, the Curve appears to be king of Blackberry mountain.
