Apple recently released the newest generation in their popular iPhone line: the iPhone 4G. In its fourth generation, the new iPhone 4 is the slimmest smart phone in the entire world and is also one of the fastest. The iPhone 4G is a fast and functional smart phone for staying in touch, entertainment and even business related tasks.
The first noticeable different about the iPhone 4 is its shape. The iPhone 4 has a flat back and front while the iPhone 3G and 3GS backs were curved. The body is shiny and made of glass, giving the phone a sleek and trendy look. The screen uses new technology called retina display. The screen resolution is 960x940 with 326 pixels per inch. These impressive numbers allow the iPhone 4 to have one of the crispest, most colorful and clear displays available on the market today.

Apple improved iPhone battery life with its newest model. The iPhone 4 battery allows users 7 hours of talk time on a 3G network, 6 hours of internet browsing on a 3G network and 10 hours of browsing while connected to a WiFi network. The iPhone 4 has a standby battery life of 300 hours.
The iPhone 4 processor is also one of the fastest on the market. A fast processor increases the speed at which applications can be used. The iPhone 4 has multitasking ability, allowing users to switch back and forth between different apps.
Face Time is one of the more popular features that only the iPhone 4 offers. Users can use Face Time to video chat with each other, but to do so, they must be connected to a WiFi network. This is a valuable feature for friends, family, and business associates who need to communicate face-to-face but are physically too far away to do so. The latest and the next iPhone to be released by Apple is the iPhone 4G and its not like typical cheap phones for sale. There are rumours that it will be released this July 2010. No one knows how it looks and what will be the latest application will be in the iPhone 4G. The security of Apple was always perfect. They have security locked armoured doors with codes that change every few minutes in their Cupertino office. But, despite their tight security, they still had a deficiency on their security. Gray Powell, an Apple software engineer working on the iPhone Baseband Software left the iPhone test unit at a beer garden in Redwood City. Then, that is where the leak of the iPhone 4G started. Gizmodo was able to get the unit and disassembled it.
The iPhone 4G according to Gizmodo has a front facing video chat camera. The back camera was also improved compared to the iPhone 3GS and has a flash. It has a micro SIM. No other cell phone uses the micro SIM. The iPhone runs a 4.0 Operating system. It also has an aluminium border and has a smaller screen but has a higher resolution. The phone measures 4.50 inches by 2.31 inches by 0.37 inches and weighs 140 grams. The battery is 5.25WHr at 3.7V

There’s a place where you can buy an unlocked iPhone 3G wherein doing so would be completely legal. Surprised? You shouldn’t be if it’s in a place where buying unlocked cell phones is more of a rule than an exception. The place we’re talking about here is the internet, probably the only place on earth where you can freely pick both your phone and your carrier.

Unlocked cellphone
To understand the basic principles of an unlocked iPhone 3G, it would be best to start with knowing what a locked cell phone is. When a phone is said to be locked, what is meant is that the phone can only be used when you insert a SIM card that is connected to the same carrier as the phone.
In the US for example, if you buy your iPhone 3G from AT&T, then you can only insert an AT&T SIM in it. i.e., you can only use your iPhone 3G on the AT&T network. An unlocked iPhone 3G on the other hand, would enable you to use it with any SIM and hence, on any network.
The rule, not the exception
On the internet, where you can find a vast collection of cell phones, the phones that you buy are unlocked by default a lot of the times. Say that again? No really, if you buy an iPhone 3G in online, you’d be able to use it on any network. Now, we’re not talking about bootleg versions. On the contrary, Apple itself has released unlocked iPhone 3G phones there.
Price to pay
There’s one caveat though, the price of an unlocked 3G iPhone is relatively higher there than if you bought one in the US. The reason is because, in the US, carriers like AT&T subsidize the cost of the phone in exchange for locking the subscriber into their network. However you may find a unlocked refurbished Iphone 3g that will suit your needs just fine.
Buy an unlocked iPhone 3G
Now, if you’re one who would prefer to have the freedom of choice then there should be no reason why you wouldn’t buy an unlocked iPhone 3G. If there’s one thing that might be inevitable here it’s the possibility that, due to the immense popularity of the iPhone, Apple will be pressured into offering unlocked iPhone 3G’s to other markets as well. So stay put. You might not need to go to anywhere else to buy an unlocked iPhone 3G or Iphone 3G Cases.

Here is some information that I have gathered about the second generation iphone. A quick question and answer post.
If I have an Iphone already do I have to sign a new contract to get the 3G?
The answer is yes, if you want to upgrade, you will need to sign a new contract. You will pay $199 for the 8 GB and $299 for the 16 GB.
Will I finally be able to replace the battery on my new Apple Iphone?
Once again you will not be able to replace your battery if you need to. Well there are ways to do it if you have the confidence to crack it open. But it is not for the weak at heart if you attempt it.
Will the Iphone have picture messaging?
Unless you do it via your email client, the answer is no. But hey just do it through your email. Yeah you're right, that is kind of sucky.
Will the Apple Iphone ever be available for another carrier besides AT&T?
Before 2012, um no. Sorry.
And now the biggie. Will I be able to purchase this cell phone with out a contract?
The answer to this answer especially saddens me, but no you will not. Whether you purchase it at AT&T or the Apple Store you must get it activated for service. Now this is interesting because I am curious to see how this will affect the segment of the country that had an unlocked 3g iphone. About roughly 25% of the iphones sold here in the US were being used for the T-Mobile network.
I guess in theory, someone could buy the new Iphone, activate, then cancel their contract during the 14 day trial period, then get the iphone unlocked for T-Mobile, or sell it someone else. I do know that Apple and AT&T both have a vested interest in making sure that those phones stay locked.
Also I forgot to mention that the data plans for the 3G will increase $10 extra a month. So despite the fact that AT&T is eating $200 of the cost of the iphone, they will make a total of about $30 extra on the back end. I will continue to post updates as I get them.
Update June 9, 2008: Apple announced today that the Apple Iphone has been pushed back to July 11, 2008.
The new Apple Iphone release date has been announced! It will correspond with the one year anniversary of the wildly successful initial Iphone launch. (edit: I somehow forgot to add the date initially! The date for the new Iphone release is June 27, 2008 as of right now.) This phone version will be ready to run on AT&T's much faster 3G network. Allowing for faster internet speeds. Also according to sources, a few weeks prior to the release of the new Apple Iphone, Apple will remove all remaining stock from the market to help boost demand.
These new Iphones will be available in 8 gigabytes and 16 gigabytes. Now here is the best news. In an effort to help boost demand, AT&T will be footing $200 of the cost. What does this mean? This means that instead of paying $399 for the 8 GB Iphone or $499 for the 16 GB, you will only have to pay $199 or $299 respectively. This deal will only be available for those who are signing NEW two year contracts with AT&T. This offer WILL NOT be available at the Apple Stores. At least not as of right now.
My two cents
While I am happy about the price dropping on anything, at my store the number one requested phone is the Iphone. Now the last time I saw a demand for a phone was when the original Motorola V3 Razr was first released. It was initially $500. Then the price drops occured and soon everyone had one making it Motorola's best selling phone of all time. However the market is oversaturated with Motorola Razrs. The same fate awaits the Apple Iphone I am afraid.
Everyone wants one, and soon everyone will be able to afford one. (Not to mention 25% of unlocked Apple Iphones that are on the market.) From a consumer standpoint, that is exciting news as I would never pay more than $150 for a phone, I would buy an Iphone 3g unlocked online. I don't care what it was but that is just me. Soon the Apple Iphone will hit mainstream status, then no one will want it anymore. Maybe. The thing about Steve Jobs, and Apple, he just may find a way to keep everyone coming back for more.
