As of July 2010, MetroPCS is offering the Blackberry Curve 8530 for an affordable $60 unlimited monthly plan. Callers and receivers both reported good volume on calls, clarity of call transmission and voices on the line were reported to sound "natural." No dropped calls were reported during CNET's testing of the MetroPCS service for the Blackberry Curve 8530. Mobile web pages were reported to have loaded in approximately 15 seconds while regular web pages took up to one minute to load. The image quality of video content was reported as "grainy," in part due to the low-resolution screen of the 8530 Blackberry Curve model.

The 8530 Blackberry model comes equipped with an 1150mAH lithium ion battery, giving customers an average talk time of 5.4 hours after being fully charged. Upon purchase of the Blackberry 8530, MetroPCS customers get an AC adaptor, a USB cable, a companion cd, and phone reference material.
Overall, reviewers of this phone option through MetroPCS liked the compactness and lightness of the phone's design, and that it came equipped with features like push-email; Wi-Fi; EV-DO; popular IM services like Blackberry Messenger; GPS; Bluetooth; access to the latest ringtones and games through the Metro App Store and Blackberry App World, and a 2.0 megapixel camera with zoom and video recording features.

The 8530 also comes with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, a useful addition for customers with upgraded headphones. Customers who buy cheap phones for sale most enjoyed what they reported to be "fantastic" sound quality and clarity. Metro PCS also offers features unique to their service, including the Metro Navigator, Metro Banking, Metro Back-up and Premium Directory Assistance. Negatives for the phone include a low-resolution screen and sometimes unreliable 3G service. Some users complained of a cramped QWERTY keyboard surface; though the keys of the 8530 have been raised for faster typing and the trackpad is an improvement over the older models' trackball. All in all, customers will likely appreciate the phone for the basics it gets right consistently and its low monthly plan through MetroPCS. Although the $230 price tag might seem steep, the bottom line might be well worth it in order to have freedom from annual phone contracts.
