Big Kudos to AT&T

AT&T has taken it upon themselves to help combat the nations epidemic dropout rate. Over the next four years, AT&T has pledged to donate over $100 million to programs that aim to help increase high school gradutation levels. I won't expound here into a social commentary, but I am glad to see a major corporation step up to the plate to help thwart a situation that good have a profoundly negative impact on the future of our country.

Anyway, AT&T, through the program they are calling "Aspire", will give 100,000 student across the country the opportunity to participate in a job shadowing program. AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson, in a statement said “Investing in a well-educated workforce may be the single most important thing we can do to help America remain the leader in a digital, global economy.”

As part of the job shadowing initiative, the company will work with an organization called Junior Achievement to pair AT&T employees with students in grades 9-12, “so that students can…see first-hand the kinds of skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.”
